Battle of the Books 2016

America's Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd through 12th grades.

Students read books and come together in groups (or alone) to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. The Competition will be held in March.

10 books have been pre chosen: Swindle, 12 Again, Ben Franklin of Old Philadelphia, Fahrenheit 451, Jacob Have I Loved, Everything on a Waffle, One-Eyed Cat, Maniac Magee, When Zachary Beaver Came to Town, and Across Five Aprils. Details can be found on the here. The selected books vary in Lexile ranges, interest levels, and genre.

Grissom has many excellent readers and this is a perfect opportunity for you to shine! Books are available in Grissom's Media Center as well as on OverDrive: PHM's eBook program. Audio copies of many of the titles are available on OverDrive as well.  Local libraries have copies of the titles as well. Interested students can visit the IMC and pick up a BLUE information sheet, check out a copy of the book, review how to log in to OverDrive, and pick up a notetaking guide to help you keep track of each book's details.

Good Luck and Happy Reading!

The winning team will get a very cool prize!
